Spring is here, and things are blooming at Wishbox Media! We've been buzzing with activity, creating new videos, meeting inspiring partners, and diligently crafting our strategic roadmap for the year ahead.
And that's not all! We continue to ride the AI wave, analyzing the impact of Artificial Intelligence on education, speaking with leading AI experts in the field, and even experimenting with the latest AI tools ourselves. Stay tuned for upcoming content that explores the exciting intersection of AI and storytelling!
According to news reports, Apple and Google are currently discussing a deal to bring generative AI to iPhones.
Will that pose an existential threat to ChatGPT? Only time will tell!
Meanwhile, keep creating and keep telling stories.
Best wishes

💡 What we’ve been up to
We published a feature (Arabic) on the AmmanNet website, home to the first community service online radio station, with support from the Qarib program. The piece delves into the integration of AI in Jordan’s higher education sector.
🤝🏻 We met with journalist Nada Abdel Samad, director of the Qarib program, at the organization’s office in Amman. We've been in discussions about our collaboration, focusing on creating digital content that addresses education, youth, women, and the most pressing social and political issues in Jordan over the next two years.
📱 We had a live session on Instagram with communications professional and media trainer Basant Ziedan about the importance of media campaigns in covering our report on the impact of artificial intelligence on education in Jordan. The dialogue was led by Arwa Al-Omari, WishBox's editor and program manager.
📹 We participated in a seminar on International Women’s Day at the French Institute in Amman, organized by CFI, the French Media Development Agency. Rana Sweis, the founder and director of WishBox Media, discussed the critical role of female journalists in covering conflicts, specifically during the Gaza war. She addressed the challenges they face, including violations and dangers that have led to fatalities while performing their duties. Additionally, Sweis emphasized the significance of activists on social media platforms, noting their ability to reach wider audiences and their influence on the narratives coming out of Gaza.
🙋🏻♀️ In February, we finalized an agreement with the Jordanian Women’s Union to produce a series of multimedia services.
Teamwork in action! Here is a snapshot of our Wishbox Media team gathering at the office last month. Together, we’re turning dreams into reality—one project at a time.
📕 Congratulations are in order. Our own freelance writer Natasha Tynes’ short story, The Agency, set in Amman, was included in Stories from the Center of the World, an anthology of stories by top Arab and Arab American writers. Congratulations, Natasha!

🗄️ From the archives
💬 This is a throwback to our live interview with social media expert Khaled Ahmad, in which we delved into the secrets of social media platforms.

📺 Our media consumption
💻 We have been experimenting with Google’s Chat GPT competition, Gemini. It’s fast, mostly accurate, and can save writers and journalists a lot of time if used efficiently. We wonder if it will ever put Chat GPT out of business!
🗞️ We enjoyed reading this article, which highlights how Dubai-based podcast platform Podeo empowers content creators with creation, distribution, and monetization tools across diverse platforms.
💡 We recommend this piece in which Daily Maverick co-founders argue how social media platforms undermine democracy by amplifying untruths and the need to be regulated like news publishers. They also call for tax breaks and support for quality journalism.
