No, not another newsletter
Happy Monday, and welcome to Wishbox Media’s first newsletter of many to come. You might think to yourself oh no, not another newsletter. We hear you, but stay assured that we’re not trying to sell you anything or, even worse, brainwash you with a certain dogma or recruit you to a cult.
Our aim in this monthly dispatch is to start a conversation on the latest trends that are happening in the media development field and beyond as we keep you informed on the latest happenings in the sphere.
So buckle up because you are in for a treat.
Also, if you have an idea of how we can enhance our offerings, drop us a note. We are all ears.
Best wishes,

What we have been up to
Yes, we have been busy, so busy that carving up a time to write this newsletter took a lot of planning and cajoling, but we are here for you to tell you some of the highlights of what has been happening in our neck of the woods.
Workshop for female artists: We recently ran a program that included ten Jordanian female artists, who participated in several artistic events, and workshops under the guidance of renowned Jordanian cartoonist Omar Abdallat, and with the support of the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Among those activities was one-month-long private training. Mayar Kabajah was one of the artists who took part in the program. Kanajah, who is a student of visual arts at the University of Jordan, found a way to use Adobe to reveal the beauty of Amman by making it look as real as possible. Just look at this gorgeous sunset.
A virtual exhibition: We ran an online show featuring a large group of Jordanian artists who portrayed local Jordanian issues, such as honor crimes, bullying, child labor, social media issues, and children's rights. you can browse the exhibition "Jordan: Between dream and reality" here.
Training female entrepreneurs: This month, we trained 12 women from Rusaifa in Zarqa, Jordan on legal awareness, digital inclusion and marketing, and how to sell products on marketplaces. Titled: "Successful home businesses: Safe and effective use of digital technologies," the workshop was supported by the Embassy of Canada and targeted women who run small businesses such as tailoring, cooking, and others.
Live Talks: Our live talk this month featured public speaking coach Jessy el Murr who shared with us and the audience her top tips to be a better public speaker and presenter. You can watch the recording of the live chat here. We conduct these talks monthly, so stay tuned for the next one.
In the pipeline
New website: We will have a brand new website in February. Our slick new website will display our work more visually and make it easier for you to get in touch with us. We can't wait to share it with you, so stay tuned.
Art exhibition: If you are an art enthusiast, then make sure to check out an upcoming exhibition in Amman in March, which displays the works of the artists trained by Wisbox Media and Omar Abdallat. Additionally, we will publish a book that will introduce the artists and feature their work.
From the archive
Sometimes we feel nostalgic and would want to take you with us on a trip down memory lane. Today we will tell you about a visual story we published on social media and in the local news website Ammannet last October. The piece features high-quality photographs that tell the story of Jordan’s Dana Reserve and how copper mining damages its environment. You can read the story here and marvel at the spellbinding pictures of this natural reserve.
Our offerings
One of our services is creating multimedia essays for our clients, a collection of still images that combine sound and image to draw the public’s attention to a specific issue.
See the example below about child labor in Jordan.
If you have an idea for a multimedia essay, please drop us a note. We would love to hear from you.
Our media consumption
Here at Wishbox Media. We are always reading and consuming content, especially on digital media, that inspires us and educates us. Lately, we have been keeping an eye on AI and its role in advancing research and writing, especially with the launch of the much-talked-about AI ChatGPT, which broke the internet.
Don’t worry we are still humans; here are Wishbox media, and we have enjoyed this explanatory article in the Atlantic magazine about the ChatGPT and how it will change the way we research and create. Kick back, grab a cup of coffee (or tea with mint) and enjoy this eye-opening piece.
We hope you enjoyed our first installment of Wishbox Media newsletter (no, it’s not just another newsletter). Please feel free to drop us a note with your feedback and suggestions, and ideas for collaborations. We are listening. Always listening.
