So, in case you have been hiding under a rock lately, there’s a new law in town: it’s Jordan’s 2023 Cybercrime Law, specifically articles 13 and 14, and there’s a lot of chatter about it.
We’ve been examining it closely, trying to warp our heads around its repercussions for digital content production in the kingdom. One thing that caught our attention is that the law consists of 41 articles (compared with the current law’s 15 articles) and several provisions threatening freedom of expression, the right to information, and the right to privacy, as well as tightening government control over the internet.
It uses overly broad, vaguely defined terms. Articles 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 of the draft contain imprecise, vague, and undefined terminology, such as “fake news,” “promoting, instigating, aiding or inciting immorality,” “online assassination of personality,” “provoking strife,” “undermining national unity,” and “contempt for religions.
So: how do you define immorality, we wonder? 🤷🏻♀️
Laws aside, we’ve been busy, super busy, to say the least. We’ve been collaborating with several organizations on creating social media content, meeting with officials, and taking part in a job fair.
Phew! Our heads are spinning with all the work we’ve been doing lately, but our spirits are high because we’re creating work we love. Work that inspires, educates, and informs.
Best wishes,

💡 What we’ve been up to
🇭🇲 WishBox Media’s Managing Director Rana Sweis had a productive meeting with H.E. Bernard Lynch, Australia’s ambassador to Jordan, and his colleagues. They discussed the integration of AI technology in the workplace, the latest social media trends, and the media landscape in Jordan. We look forward to more collaboration with the Australian embassy.
🎞️ We’ve kicked off our collaboration with the international nonprofit Questscope. We currently manage their social media platforms and create compelling multimedia content to share across various media channels. You”ll find an example below.
🏫 We’ve participated in an interactive educational and vocational fair at the German Jordanian University, in Amman, which featured around 40 institutions, organizations, and embassies, showcasing diverse opportunities for the attending youth.
🧑🏻💼 We’ve welcomed two interns who’ve just joined our internship program. They’ll be diving into social media marketing and participating in events. Welcome on board, Nour Najem and Khaled Abu Salah!
🎙️ Live Talks: This month's live talk featured entrepreneur Hadeel Shehadeh, who shared insights and tips on how to create impactful Instagram reels. #LIVETALKS.

📹 We created a video supporting the Jordanian youth's involvement in planning and making decisions. The video was created with the support of the Qarib Media program, a regional program implemented by CFI, the French media development agency.

📺 Our media consumption
One tool we’ve been using a lot lately is Airtable. We use it mostly to manage our clients' social media calendars, where team members can collaborate transparently to create social media posts, follow the production cycle, and populate the shared calendar. It made our work smoother and more efficient and saved us a lot of emails and WhatsApp app messages (Oh, those WhatsApp messages!!). We couldn't recommend it more. 🗓️
